We have an exciting opening for a Lab Technician at Valley Behavioral Health that will give you an opportunity to work with great people and new technology. Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Medical Laboratory Technician is accountable for performing a variety of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests, both manual and automated, of varying complexity to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of Clients.  You will work closely with a skilled team to preform lab work for our many locations in our state of the art lab facility at our Highland Springs location.

Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM 

 

Pay: Commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and STAT laboratory testing, reviews results, problem solves, and reports accurate and timely information.
  • Completes required quality control testing, maintains records and documentation necessary to fulfill regulatory agency requirements (CAP, CLIA, AABB, FDA, etc.), and takes appropriate corrective action as necessary.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, cleaning and calibration procedures according to SOPs and manufacturer's developed schedules.
  • Competently uses all appropriate Laboratory Information Systems.
  • May help maintain supply inventory, notifying supervisor when supplies are low.
  • Complies with laboratory safety procedures. Possesses adequate knowledge of instrumentation, theory, and application of new and existing tests.
  • Assisting other members of the laboratory department as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have experience with chemistry analyzers and liquid chromatography (some training can be provided). We are not a startup but candidates should have experience with a startup-style environment. Prior job experience in toxicological laboratory space preferred
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Requires organizational and decision-making skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and should have LIS experience
  • Requires good analytical judgment, troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Associates degree or at least 60 semester hours of an accredited MLT program along with national certification, MLT (ASCP or approved accrediting agency), or equivalent (military) certification as determined by Manager. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
