Overview

We are seeking a Behavior Specialist to work within a dynamic elementary school team and provide treatment to latency aged children who experience severe emotional disturbances. This is a self-contained, mental health services classroom with our Children's Behavior Therapy Unit (CBTU) located at Frost Elementary School.

 

Location: 3444 West 4400 South, WVC, 84119

Schedule: Work M-F, 40 hours per week. 8:15 - 4:15. This is a 10 month position that runs concurrent with a traditional school calendar, with elongated summer program with 44 days of leave without pay.

Pay: Commensurate with Experience

CBTU is a collaborative classroom with Salt Lake School District serving elementary aged clients who are in need of social emotional learning to support their behavioral health and academic needs.   The team at CBTU is dedicated to providing services to some of the most in need students in Salt Lake school district to help them develop skills to succeed at school, home and in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with behavior management
  • Facilitate social skills groups
  • Assist primary therapist with coordination of services
  • Support clients through emotional or behavioral crisis
  • Good computer skills with the ability to learn and use our online charting system

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience working with children or adolescents in a specialized school or mental health program, and/or with kids who experience mental health and behavioral issues.
  • SSW License in good standing with the state of Utah
  • Case Management Certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to become MANDT certified
  • Clean driving record
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, team plyer
