Do you want to be an integral part of the life line Valley Behavioral Health's ACES program brings to children who are in need of a better chance in life! We are looking for an exceptional, team-focused, enthusiastic, qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Behavior Counselor. This is a part-time, exciting, rewarding position that will support a child with behavioral and emotional challenges as well as their family in the prevention of a more restrictive mental health placement.  Be the caring provider of behavior support and outstanding rehabilitative services in a partial, day-treatment setting.  If you strive for nothing but dedication and excellence, this team is for YOU!
 
Location:  195 West 7200 South, Midvale, UT  84047
 
Schedule:  M-F, 2:45 pm – 6:15 pm  
 
Starting Pay: $11.14 
 

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide psycho-social rehabilitative services to children, ages 5 – 12, in an intensive after-school treatment program
  • Work with licensed staff to teach social skills classes  
  • Supervise clients during program hours. 
  • Direct activities
  • Model appropriate behavior
 
ACES (Acute Children's Extended Services) an after school partial day treatment services for children ages 5-12 with severe, emotional and behavioral problems. The goal of the program is to prevent a more restrictive mental health placement. ACES teaches social and crisis management skills through recreational activities, community activities, friendship skills, home and school behavioral monitoring and generalization of skills. 

Qualifications

  • Experience working with elementary aged children preferred.
  • Must be dependable, patient, energetic
  • Work well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Enthusiastic problem-solver
  • Ability to maintain professionalism when re-directing inappropriate behaviors
  • Excellent computer skills with competency using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software programs quickly.
  • Proficiency in the use of a variety of social media communication
